The The Historic General In Full Color Locomotive Print Unframed is created by renowned Georgia artist Skip McNutt, depicting a significant moment in American Civil War history. This full color print on heavy paper is available in two sizes 6-1/2" x 11" and 16-1/2" x 10" (print size) and is shipped unframed, allowing for customization in display options. The print features the General racing down the track with the Texas giving chase while running in reverse in great historic detail. Signed by the Artist.

The print was featured with a cover and in a story in the April, 2012 issue of Trains magazine (See photo) and is also featured as a mural on the historic depot in the town of Adairsville, Georgia.

The print illustrates the story of the raid involving the locomotive known as The General, a key element of the Confederate transportation system. It shows events when 22 Northern spies, led by James J. Andrews, arrived in Marietta on April 10 and traveled in small groups toward Kennesaw to avoid suspicion. The scene captures the Union raiders seizing the locomotive on the morning of April 12, after they anticipated the train’s crew would be away for breakfast and supplies. The raiders then steamed northward with the intention of destroying bridges and disrupting Confederate communication lines. They ran out of water and wood two miles north of Ringgold, Georgia, near Chattanooga, which resulted in their abandoning the locomotive. The story continues with the eventual capture of the raiders, some of whom were executed as spies, while surviving members received the first Medal of Honor awards.

This historical print is ideal for Civil War enthusiasts, history educators, and collectors interested in detailed, factual representations of key moments in American history. It provides a tangible connection to the story of The General and the daring raid associated with it.
